Mission: Prologue: First Steps
Location: Starfleet Intelligence Main building, 6th floor
Timeline: 2236 hrs current day

On:

It was late, the upper most floor of the intelligence building was mostly unoccupied excluding a few custodial staff. A lone figure was walking down the hallway toward the corner offices, for those who aren't familiar with the inner workings of Starfleet intelligence it wasn't unusual for people to be roaming the halls at all hours, the lone figure made his way to the corner office and entered.

"You wanted too see me Admiral?" Ryan asked

"Take a seat, Coffee?" the Admiral asked

"Yeah, I could use one." Ryan replied "So what was with the late night meeting?"

"How's the family?" the Admiral asked

"Sam is just getting settled into the new house, I think she wants me to get back to work." Ryan replied accepting the coffee.

"So how do you feel about going back out there?" the older gentleman asked

"I do feel ready, what did you have in mind?"

"I'm assigning you to the Mohawk, most of her crew are starting to clear for duty after Wolf three five nine. what about you?" he said

"I think it's time, I know considering the chain of events that happened saying no was an option." The admiral said as he took his seat behind the desk "With everything that's happened you coming back is a big deal."

"So when is the inquiry?" Ryan asked trying to steer the conversation

"Two weeks, they've already interviewed the affected officers and discharged those cases, it might be wise for you to be off planet when the Lancaster review begins, we don't need you being recognized either." The admiral said raising the cup.

"That's the last thing we both need, so when do I leave?" Ryan asked

"In the morning, it's a springfield class so you and Sam will be spending some time apart, sorry about that." The admiral said with some remorse.

"She gets it, I'll fill her in before I leave, anything else?" Ryan said

"Take care Ryan, and good luck." the Admiral said

Ryan exited the office, he was half expecting to be off on something more dangerous, then again so many ships were lost a year ago, he went back to his desk and tossed a few personal possessions into his go bag and looked around at the rows of cubicles not sure what he felt but he wanted to go home and grab a shower followed by a discussion with his wife that he wasn't looking forward too and he was dreading her reaction.

As he walked to the lift he looked down the hallway to the left remembering the first time he set foot in the building, and the chains of events that followed, he stepped into the elevator, as the doors slid closed he pulled out an old style clamshell communicator and flipped it open, "Hey it's me I'm headed home looks like I'm going back out there, are you going to okay with this?"

The female voice just said "Don't do anything stupid promise?'
